Creating an Instalment Regime

You can create an instalment prescription for both acute and repeat prescriptions. The instalment instruction details are included in any electronic prescription message, EPS in England and barcoded prescriptions for Wales and Northern Ireland.

  1. From Consultation Manager , select the patient required and open a consultation if required.
  2. Select List Repeat Therapy or List Acute Therapy .
  3. Simply start typing, or press <Esc> and the Therapy - Add screen displays, find the required drug and enter the details required.
  4. Select Instalment Dispensing .
  5. The Instalment Dispensing screen displays, enter any free text instructions for instalment dispensing required:

    Note – You can enter a maximum of 35 characters.
  6. Select OK to save and Instalment Dispensing displays with a red tick .
  7. Complete the therapy entry as usual.
  8. When you print the item:
    • If the item is not a controlled drug - The heading Instalment Instructions prints with your instructions underneath. These details also appear on the therapy entry.
    • If the item is a controlled drug - You are prompted to load the correct stationery: Controlled drugs with instalment dispensing instructions must be printed on FP10MDA/WP10FPA stationery. Please ensure the correct stationery is present in the printer. Do you wish to continue? Yes/No.

      Change the stationery as required, then select Yes to continue.

Note - For English and Welsh practices, you cannot print items which have instalment notes on the same prescription as non-instalment items.
